Where Did My Settings Icon Go
If you have installed Windows operating system on a netbook, notebook, tablet or desktop computer with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), you probably are familiar with the small battery icon that appears in the system tray area of the taskbar.
System Settings Icon
The battery status icon comes very handy for users who don’t keep their notebooks or netbooks connected to the power supply always. Hovering the mouse cursor over the battery icon shows the remaining battery time and percentage.
Right-clicking on the battery icon provides quick access to Power Options, Windows Mobility Center, and Adjust screen brightness. One can quickly switch between power plans by clicking on the battery icon.
For computers running Windows, the settings usually can be found in the control panel in the start menu. For Macs, the settings can be found by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting System Preferences. For computers running versions of Windows up to Windows 7, the settings are found in the Control Panel. The icons are not deleted, they are moved to a folder and you can put them back on the desktop if you want. The folder is C: Documents and Settings UserName Desktop Unused Desktop Shortcuts. It will also place a shortcut to that folder on your Desktop, as shown. Tip of the day: Turn off the automatic aspect.
