Using a Dell Bluetooth Keyboard (GM952) that had been working as normal until it 'died' - in previous instances this has just been dead batteries so I replaced them with other batteries I had laying around. However, the keyboard did not connect back to the PC as expected; instead, the Bluetooth icon on the keyboard was flashing slow - every 8 seconds or so instead of the normal every second. Thinking the device had been lost in 'limbo' removed and tried to re-add the keyboard with no luck; also rebooted the keyboard a few times and then the PC with still no luck.

In general, the low-power indicator for this keyboard is the Bluetooth icon flashing amber instead of the normal blue - however, this 'every 8 seconds or so' flashing is also a low-power indicator. The new batteries were just as dead as the old batteries but the keyboard switched to this other low-power indicator. Swapped them out again for 100% new batteries and the keyboard is back to normal.
